Closest Airports:

Fly into Los Angeles (LAX) or Long Beach (LGB); both offer easy access to Catalina Island.

We recommend arriving the day before the wedding to allow plenty of time to reach the island and settle in.

Airport → Ferry

Taxis, rideshares, or pre-booked shuttles are available from both LAX and LGB to the Long Beach Ferry Terminal.

Allow about 45 minutes from LAX or 25 minutes from LGB. We recommend building in extra time for traffic.

Ferry

Catalina Express

The Catalina Express ferry departs from Long Beach, San Pedro, and Dana Point, with Long Beach being the most convenient option for most travelers. The scenic ride to Avalon takes roughly an hour and offers stunning views of the Pacific as you approach the island.

On the Island

You’ll arrive directly in Avalon, where most hotels and the Catalina Island Country Club are within walking distance or a short golf cart ride away. The island is small and easy to explore; think cobblestone streets, ocean breezes, and coastal charm at every turn.

Where to Stay

Avalon has many lovely hotels and vacation rentals within minutes of the ferry landing. Some guest favorites include:

We recommend booking early, as weekends on the island tend to fill quickly.

Welcome to Catalina Island

Think Amalfi vibes meets California coast — sunshine, sea views, and pure island magic. Explore where to:

  • If you’d like to stay near the wedding crew, consider reserving a group villa at Hamilton Cove Vacation Homes.

Many offer ocean views, private balconies, and a relaxed island feel…and each stay includes a golf cart, perfect for breezy island rides and sunset views along the coast.

  • Avalon offers charming boutique hotels just steps from the harbor and downtown.

Favorites include Hotel Atwater, Hotel Metropole, and The Avalon Hotel— all within a short 7-13 min walk to the venue.

Alternatively, you can stay right across the venue at Catalina Canyon Inn.

  • As Catalina transitions out of its off-season, ferry times and room options may be limited.

We recommend booking early to make travel smooth and stress-free. Once there, everything in Avalon is a short, scenic walk away.
